From June 6 to June 28, 2026, the Pont Neuf will host one of the most anticipated artistic installations of the year in Paris: The Pont Neuf Cave, imagined by French artist JR.
For a few weeks, the oldest bridge in Paris will take on an entirely new appearance, becoming a monumental artwork that can be admired both on foot… and from the Seine.
And as it happens, our boat Sam passes directly alongside the Pont Neuf during its private cruises.
A new way to experience the Pont Neuf
With this temporary installation, JR transforms the Pont Neuf into a vast mineral and immersive landscape, paying tribute to the famous project by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who wrapped the bridge in fabric in 1985.
Stretching over more than 120 metres, the installation creates the illusion of a gigantic cave running through the heart of Paris.
From the quays, the artwork is already impressive.
But from the water, the perspective changes completely.
Discovering the installation from the Seine
Throughout the exhibition, our cruises pass directly beneath the Pont Neuf, offering a much wider and more immersive view of the installation.
Cruising on the Seine allows you to enjoy:
- An unobstructed view of the entire artwork
- The distance needed to appreciate its scale and volumes
- A quieter experience, away from the crowds gathered on the quays
Aboard Sam, Paris continues to unfold around you as the installation gradually reveals itself along the water.
An exhibition available for a limited time
As is often the case with JR’s projects, the installation is temporary.
The Pont Neuf Cave will only be visible from June 6 to June 28, 2026.
It is therefore a unique opportunity to experience Paris differently, at the crossroads of heritage, contemporary art and the Seine.
